How do I purchase/download
TeamDirection Project?
There are two ways to get the TeamDirection
Project software:
a. The quickest and easiest way
to get TeamDirection Project is to inject it into your Groove Workspace
by:
-
Downloading the product from the TeamDirection web site
- Selecting TeamDirection Project
from the available tools in your Groove workspace.
- Activating TeamDirection Project
by clicking on the Activate button while in TeamDirection Project
and following the screens. NOTE: Until you purchase a license
and activate the product, your install is in full mode for 15
days then reverts to preview mode and
you will not be able to add/view more than five items to your
project (see next FAQ item).
b.
The second way to install TeamDirection Project is to obtain a
single file install from TeamDirection which can then be used
via your
network to install TeamDirection Project. This is especially useful
if you have a number of employees who need to install TeamDirection
Project but they do not have access to the internet. If you wish
to use this method click here
.
How
do I purchase a license?
a. There are two
ways to purchase a license. The first way is through TeamDirection
Project itself:
- Once you have installed the product
into your Groove workspace, click on the Activate button--located
in the tool's menu bar directly below the name of the Groove space
you are currently in.
- Select the I want to buy a
license option.
- Answer the questions as indicated
and have a credit card ready.
- Select the license which is appropriate
for your needs. If you are going to use the product in a workgroup,
you will need to purchase a multi-user license. If the number
of activations you need does not fall evenly into one of the available
licenses simply purchase a single user license for the 'odd' numbers,
or contact TeamDirection Sales for special orders.
- Once you have completed the activation
wizard, a License ID (LID) and Password (PW)
will be given to you (both on screen and via E-Mail) which you
can then use to activate the product. Keep this information safe
as you will need it to activate the product.
- Activate the product as described
in How Do I activate TeamDirection Project once I have a License
ID and Password below.
b. The second
way to purchase a license is to go to the TeamDirection
purchase page, purchase a license, then activate the product
as described below.

Project is installed and added to a space, go into the empty
Project and click on the "Activate" button found at
the top of the Project space.
- Select the option indicating you
have a License ID and Password. If you do not yet have a License
ID and Password see How

Project tool.
How do I activate a single
license multiple times?
A user may use the License ID and
Password for a given license to activate the product on their machine,
or they can use a registration code provided by their administrator.
The administrator may choose to activate several users with a given
License ID and Password, then give users a Registration Code which
they then use to activate the product on each machine.
Can I activate on multiple
computers?
Yes. If you have already activated
TeamDirection Product on a computer, you can use the Registration
Code which was created (click on the Activate button to
view the Registration Code) to activate another install (e.g. at
home or a second office computer). You must first export your Groove
account to the other computer (see Groove
support for details on exporting your account) then use the
Registration ID from the first install of TD Project (i.e. the computer
you exported your Groove account from) to activate TD Project on
the computer you exported your Groove account to. You can do this
on up to five computers. For more info see
How do I activate
using a Registration Code below.
Top
How do I activate using
a Registration Code?
- Get the Registration ID from your
administrator, from TeamDirection Support, or--if using an exported
Groove space--on the computer from which you exported the Groove
account and have already registered TD Project (simply click on
the "Activate" button to see your Registration ID).
- Click on the Activate
button after installing TeamDirection Project in your Groove workspace.
- Select the option indicating you
already have a Registration ID.
- Enter the RID Code when asked.
- You will be registered automatically.
How Do I Recover an
Activation?
Currently Groove does not provide
associated tools a way to use their licensing software. So, once
you use an activation from a license there is no direct way to recover
that activation (if, for example, the person using it was a contractor).
However, if you run into this situation contact TeamDirection support
with the Groove user ID and we can provide you with another activation.

work, you can find the latest service release on the Microsoft

Synchronizing with MS
Project
Beginning in TD Project 2.0, a synchronization
capability is provided which allows the user to import a file from
MS Project or export a file to MS Project and synchronize the two
files. The user can then periodically synchronize the two files
to keep them in synch. To begin the synchronization process:
- Click on the synchronization button.

- The necessary information for maintaining
synchronization is stored by default in the Text20 field of the
MS Project file. You can change this if you wish.
- Select your Synchronization Direction
(i.e. into TD Project or out to an MS Project file) at the top
of the same screen.
- Select the MS Project file you
wish to synch with (if not creating one) by clicking on the browse
button or input the file name you wish to create if 'exporting'
to an MS Project file.
- Click OK to begin the process.
For more detailed information on
Synchronization with MS Project files and known issues see the
MS Project Synchronization tech note.

Windows NT SP6, 2000 and XP are supported.
Windows 95, 98, and ME are NOT supported.
What system files does TeamDirection

by Team Direction Project can be found here.
Only files which are older then those on the list will actually
be installed.
How do I remove the
product from my Groove Workspace?

into your Groove space. For details on how to do this see the

How do I change the
date format?
The date format used is the format
that you have set in MS Windows. However, when exporting a project
to another format, the date format always defaults to mm/dd/yyyy.
Why do new meetings have
tomorrow's date by default?
When you create a new meeting by pressing
the New button, the object is immediately created even
before you change and save its name. This means that if the default
date for a meeting was today, pressing the New button would
create a new meeting today at 8:00 a.m. (the default time), and,
with Outlook synchronization turned on, a new meeting would immediately
be created for today at 8a.m. in all group member's Outlook program.
If it was already past 8:00 a.m. everyone's Outlook would immediately
give a reminder warning. Hence, to avoid this the default date is
always tomorrow's date.
Resource tab greyed
for "Participants" when user has add/modify rights?
Only Managers can view the Project
Resources tab. Users who are participants and who have permissions
to add resources set to true--as well as Edit Task permissions--are
able to add resources by typing in new values in the resource field
of an object. However, only Managers are able to go to the resource
tab to modify this resource and associate it with a Groove account.

How Do I Start Using Dashboard?
The basic Dashboard is a free
download. After installing TD Project, install Dashboard and
add
it to a space via the Groove tool list. For best results add it
to a separate space from any of your project spaces. Once Dashboard
is added to a Groove space no further setup is necessary. It
will automatically gather information from all the TD Projects
across all spaces on the computer.
How Do I Purchase Dashboard?
The basic Dashboard is free
with your purchase of TD Project. Future major upgrades of Dashboard
will be free for users with maintenance and support contracts.
What About Upgrades?
Minor upgrades (such as 2.1 to 2.1.5)
are free.
The Support & Maintenance Subscription
(SMS) includes unlimited Priority Support (no limit on number
of
incidents), as well as all minor and major (2.x to 3.0) upgrades.
The SMS fee is 22% of the undiscounted list price of the software
published on our web site. For more information contact TeamDirection.
